Nageshwar Jyotirling is located at a distance of about 25 km from Dwarkapuri in Gujarat state. This place falls on the way from Gomti Dwarka to Bet Dwarka. Good means of road are available from Dwarka to Nageshwar Mahadev Temple by bus, taxi, etc. By rail, Rajkot is reached from Jamnagar, and Dwarka is reached by Jamnagar railway.

Nageshwar Mahadev is one of the twelfth Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. It is a holy pilgrimage. Where is Nageshwar Mahadev Jyotirlinga? This is a controversial question. Story Behind Nageshwar Jyotirlinga

After knowing the importance of Nageshwar Jyotirling, now we will know about the popular story behind the appearance of this holy Jyotirlinga. Just as people have many opinions regarding the location of Nageshwar Jyotirlinga. Similarly, different places have different stories about this Jyotirlinga. According to the story of this Jyotirlinga located near Dwarka in Gujarat: – There was a Vaishya named Supriya. One who was very pious, virtuous, and an exclusive devotee of Lord Shiva. Once he was going somewhere on a boat. Suddenly a demon named Daruk came and attacked that boat and took all the passengers sitting in it captive and took his Puri with him.

Going there, he imprisoned all the passengers, Supriya Sahit. But Supriya’s Shivarchana did not stop even in imprisonment. He kept on worshiping Lord Shiva with steadfastness. Along with this, he used to awaken other prisoners also for devotion to Shiva. Coincidentally, the news of this reached the demon Daruk. He came to the prison. Supriya  absorbed in the state of meditation at that time. Seeing him, Daruk was furious with anger and said – O Vaishya! What kind of conspiracy are you planning blindly? Saying this he stabbed the meditative Supriya, but even that did not disturb Supriya’s attention. Then the enraged demon Daruk ordered his servants to kill Supriya.

When an attempt made to kill Supriya, suddenly Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a Jyotirlinga situated on the throne, shining on a high place. He also gave Supriya his Pashupastra. Supriya killed all the demons with that Pashupastra and went to Shiva Dham. Lord Shiva then ordered to name this Jyotirlinga Nageshwar.

Nageshwar Mahadev Temple situated at a distance of about 15 km from Dwarka. This temple built in solitude. There is neither any village nor any settlement around this temple. One can easily reach here from Dwarka by bus or auto rickshaw. On the way towards the temple, a huge statue situated in the temple courtyard is visible from afar. This huge Shiva idol is 125 feet high and 25 feet wide which enhances the beauty of this temple.

And due to its huge size, it becomes the main center of attraction of the devotees. On entering through the simple main gate of the temple complex, there is a temple of Nageshwar Mahadev in dark red color in front of the temple. Under the sabha mandap of the temple, there is a Nageshwar Shivling in the sanctum sanctorum. Which shines like silver, on which the shape of a silver snake made. Its size is medium size.

There is a Gopi Talab three away from the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple. This is a raw lake. There is yellow-colored soil in this lake. Who is called Gopichand?  Arrangements  made for the stay of the devotees visiting the nearby Dharamshala Nageshwar temple.   • To see the Nageshwar Jyotirling, according to the rules here, a dhoti tied and goes for darshan. Dhoti will be arranged here on behalf of the temple committee for darshan

  • The renovation of this Nageshwar Mahadev Temple started in 1996 by Gulshan Kumar, owner, and lyricist of Super Cassette.
  • Shri Gulshan Kumar ji killed in the period of construction itself.
  • After the murder of Gulshan Kumar, his family members completed the work of renovating this temple.
  • Gulshan Kumar Charitable Trust took over the cost of renovation of the temple, Rs 1.25 crore spent on the renovation of the temple.
  • The temple opens with aarti at 5 in the morning and closes at 9 at night.
