Mangala Gowri Temple remains the Meru Shikhar of the Goddess Temples of the entire Bihar, Maa Mangala Lok  worshiped in the form of a superpower since the beginning of the Magadha Empire, and even today, due to its special cosmic power. On the south side of the city on the Gaya-Bodh Gaya Road, there is the courtyard of Adi Mata Mangala Gauri, about 51 steps up. Right in the middle of which is the temple of the mother.

 

Special preparations  made in the Jaimangala fort of Begusarai, situated in the middle of the Kabar Lake filled with red lotus and the only Ramsar site of Bihar, which is one of the 52 Shaktipeeths for Navratri, the great festival of worship of Shakti. Here the worship of Goddess Siddhidatri and Mangala form has special significance in Shardiya Navratri. The wishes of every devotee who comes here fulfilled, due to which devotees from other districts and states also come to the temple to worship the mother.

There is also a Sarvamangala Peeth in India’s twelfth prime goddess pilgrimage and the famous 108 Shakti Sthals. Various scriptures like Devi Bhagwat, Tripura Rahasya, Kalyan, Chandi, etc., considered the most important authentic Shaktipeeth of Bihar. The breast of Sati had fallen here. The entire Durga Saptashati inscribed on the outer wall. In which the idol of Ganesh, the destroyer of obstacles, Umashankar, etc. is prominent. Ramchandra Nayak participated in the reconstruction of the temple.

According to mythology and beliefs, when Lord Shiva  doing a tandav with the dead body of Sati, Sati’s breast and withers fell at this place after being cut from the Sudarshan Chakra. Due to this, the Shaktipeeth built here and the Pala period kings built the temple on a high place situated in the middle of the lake. Mata Jayamangala, the auspicious form of Mother Bhagwati, worshiped since time immemorial.

The Bhimgaya altar visible as soon as you enter through the Mangla Singh gate, where the traces of the stay of Pandava’s brother Bhima seen. Pind Daan also takes place here. Then there is the temple of Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ji. There is a small temple of ornate Ganesh Ji in the courtyard itself. There is a circumambulation route around the temple of the mother.

 

Khadgdhari Durga Maa Temple is there in the complex, just in front of the main temple, divided into two floors, the Shiva temple, situated near India, is the Gupta period masterpiece Janardan Temple, where there is a statue of the quadrilateral god. Apart from this, other Shiv Mandir, Havanakund, Yagyashala, Pooja room, etc. are adding to the beauty of this place. The glory of this mother’s place increases even more knowing that this holy place was one of the goddess worship places in the whole country before Sati’s mortal remains, where Mata Mangala Kali  worshiped since Vedic times.

 

Lord Bhole Shankar Himself Had Worshiped

 

According to the Puranas, Lord Bhole Shankar himself came here and worshiped the mother. It says that during his stay with Vidyapati as Ugna, Lord Bhole Shankar came here and worshiped Mother Jayamangala with a red lotus flower. It  says that Mata Jayamangala  not established, but  self-manifested. The goddess automatically appeared in the deserted forest for the protection of the demons and the welfare of the devotees. Siddha Sthal is present in the ninth form of Navdurga and provides siddhi to the Siddhikamis.

 

The biggest feature is that bloodless worship  done here, the mother pleased only with the worship of flowers, water, Akshat, and Darshan. Mata worshiped on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the year, but after the establishment of the Kalash in Shardiya and Vasantik Navratri, daily recitation and worship done on the temple premises with determination. Samput Shaptashati  recited by a group of pundits, local devotees also recite it.

Wishes Come True at Mangala Gowri Temple

 

Devotees who regularly visit Mata’s court say that the wishes of those who come here and seek their vows fulfilled. From the ruins and inscriptions found on the premises during the excavation of the Jaimangala fort, estimated that the temple is quite old. On excavation on the southern side of the Jaimangalagarh temple, some such Navagraha idols were found, which gives evidence that the temple may  built by the kings of the Pala dynasty. Some such sculptures also found in the relics, in which evidence of Buddhist artwork found, which shows that there must have been the activity of Lord Buddha in this area. The freshwater Kabar Lake around the temple attests to the mighty king’s safe fort.

Interesting Story about Mangala Gowri Temple

 

Let us tell you that there are many beliefs and legends associated with this temple situated in the middle of Kabar Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Asia, about 24 km from the Begusarai district headquarters. It is said that when the terror and tyranny of the demon Tripurasura had increased greatly on the earth, then Mahadev himself invoked the goddess from this place. After which the mother appeared and killed Tripurasur and freed the earth from the fear of Tripurasur and since then the goddess  worshiped here. Legend remains that being attracted to Jaimangala, the daughter of Raja Jaimangal Singh, the demon king wanted to forcefully marry her.

For this, when the demon started troubling them a lot, Jayamangala made a condition that she would get married after filling the surrounding lake with soil overnight. After this, all the demons started filling the lake, when the demons started moving towards success, it was morning on the strength of Maya and all the demons escaped.

The fleeing demons also cut off a breast of the goddess and built a mound at many places on the way, since then the belief of the mother increased further, and at one place the idol of Lal Bhagwati is worshipped. Although archaeologists call that mound a Buddhist stupa.

 

About 12-15 lakh devotees visit every year.
