In Satyuga, Maharaj Manu and his wife did severe penance on the banks of Mandakini out of a desire for Vindhyavasini Devi’s vision. Pleased with the austerity, Mahamaya appeared and while blessing Manu and Satarupa said “I am happy with your sadhana. Now I am coming to Vindhya peak, where my devotees will know me as Vindhyavasini.”
In Tretayuga, Lord Rama came to this place during his exile and worshiped Mother Vindhyavasini Devi.
In the Dwapar era, the sons of Pandu, including Yudhishthira, Arjuna, and Bhima, had come to this area and had darshan of Mother Vindhyavasini Devi and offered prayers. Buddhists in the 6th century BC, in the earlier times of religion, the kingdom of Bharga caste was between Tamasa and Sonbhadra. His capital was in Pampapur i.e. present-day Vindhyachal. The Bharga capital Pampapur was extended from the bridge of Ojhala to the Shree Ashta Bhuja Mandir area.
Again, in the Gupta period, beautiful temples were built in Vindhyachal. The emperors of the Pala dynasty also ‘increased’ the importance of ‘Vindhyachal’.
In the 6th century, Adiguru Shankaracharya traveled to the Vindhya region and had the darshan of Mother Vindhyavasini.
The invasions of the Yavanas began in the late 14th century. In the middle of the 15th century, Muhammad Shah captured Chunar and plundered Vindhyachal. The Yavanas like Kala Pahad, Bakhtiyar Khilji, etc. destroyed the temples here.
The temple was renovated by Seth Sangamlal in the 16th century. Ghanshyamdas Birla got the temple renovated in the 19th century and also established Birla Dharamshala at this place.
A triangle of travel in the mother’s area is mentioned in the scriptures. Trikona is the limitless fruit of the journey, which is as fruitful as a thousand Chandi recitations.
The Triangle of Vindhyachal is the spiritual triangle of the three goddesses. These Mahadevies are: Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, Mahasaraswati. Jagdamba Vindhyavasini seated in the form of Mahalakshmi at the east angle of the mantra. They are west facing. A point in the center of the instrument on which Maa Vindhyavasini situated, adorned with costumes, ornaments, vibhushi, and various decorations. Next the triangle. The cultivation of this point the ultimate goal of life.
Most people and devotees worship Vindhyavasini and consider her the most important. It is our illusion that the three deities are different and their influence is different. In fact, these three are one and the same. Worship of the One is the worship of being all. There is no difference only in form. Mahalakshmi is the wife of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi gave the Blessings to Lord Shankar and along with that the place of Vidhyavasini became famous. Due to this fame, Vindhyavasini, a resident of the banks of the Ganges, considered to be of special importance among these three.
