This Tripura Sundari Devi Temple of Buxar holds amazing mysteries in itself. It is said that the idols installed in this temple talk among themselves. Legend
It believed that the right leg of Sati fell here after being cut off. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva, saddened by the death of Sati, carried her dead body on his shoulders and danced the tandava so fiercely that all the gods frightened. To stop Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu cut Sati’s body into pieces which fell in India, Pakistan, Burma, and Nepal.
According to the legend, the fingerprints of the right feet of Mother Sati are still present at this place. This temple is one of the major tourist destinations in the state. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every day to have the darshan of the mother. The “Soroshi” form of Maa Kali worshiped in this temple. The form of the temple resembles the shape of a tortoise or kurma and hence it called “Kurma Peeth”.

The name of this mysterious temple of Buxar is ‘Tripur Sundari’. It said that it built about 400 years ago. Information about the establishment received from local astrologers and pundits that it built by a Tantrik named Bhavani Mishra. It also said that the people who maintaining the temple even today are from the same Tantrik family.
The idol of ‘Maa Tripura Sundari Devi ‘ installed in the temple. Along with Shodasi, Dhumavati, Chinna Masta, Kali, Tara, and Ugra Tara along with other deities, different forms of Bhairav Baba have been installed. It said that during midnight, these idols of the deities sitting in the temple interact with each other.
