One of the well-known temples of Rishikesh, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is situated on the hills of Garhwal Himalaya. This temple considered to be the best among all the temples of Lord Shiva. The wonderful image of this temple gives a different feeling to the devotees here.

 

 

Story of Neelkanth Mahadev Temple

 

Neelkanth Mahadev Temple the same temple about which it said that Lord Shiva drank the poison emanating from the churning of the ocean at this place. After having a drink in the middle of Lord Shiva, his wife Mata Parvati suffocated his throat, due to which he could not reach his stomach. As a result, Lord Shiva’s throat turned blue, after which he came to be known as Neelkanth. This is the place where Lord Shiva drank the poison after which known by the devotees as Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.

 

 

Features of Temple

 

Neelkanth Temple as ancient and historical as it built grandly. Its carving  superb. A beautiful picture  made on the temple’s main entrance, reciting the wish to Lord Shiva. There also a grand temple of Lord Shiva’s wife Parvati Ji on the hill situated right in front of it, along with many pictures of Samudra Manthan that made on top of the temple. In the month of Sawan, there a huge crowd of devotees here.

The place believed to fulfill all the wishes of the devotees. The Temple is also present in front of us in the form of sacrifice and sacrifice of Lord Shiva made for the welfare of the universe. Apart from this, along with the beautiful magnificence of the temple, the beautiful natural scenery around the temple also gives a sense of adventure in the mind.
